Sitophilus oryzae (Linnaeus, 1763)
This is another weevil, considered a pest of stored grain products. Known more commonly as the Rice Weevil, Sitophilus oryzae is smaller than the similar Sitophilus granarius, but examination under a hand lens, will show yellow/orange patches on the elytra. Presumably, this is a common species, often found in company with S. granarius in bags of bird food etc. Photographed at Market Warsop, August 2009.
