Sitona griseus
This seems to be the first accurately documented record of Sitona griseus from the Sherwood Forest NNR, if not Nottinghamshire. Typically a species of coastal dunes, there are a few inland records on the NBN Gateway. The rostrum is longer and more narrow than most Sitona weevils and the contrast between upper and underside is striking. This antennae-less adult, was actually found whilst photographing another species, on Budby South Forest in late March 2011.
