Rhinoncus castor (Fabricius, 1792)
Another small weevil found on Sorrels, Rhinoncus castor is around 3mm in length and an indistinct species. Although probably quite common, a record from Sherwood Heath SSSI in May 2013, represented only the third for the Sherwood Forest area. We have since found it on an area of light, sandy/stony soil at Fountaindale near Mansfield in 2017.
