Neocoenorrhinus pauxillus (Germar, 1823)
A rare weevil in Nottinghamshire, with just two traceable records. The one illustrated below, was beaten from Hawthorn near the Idle Valley NR visitor centre in early April 2025 by Tim Sexton and identification was confirmed when the specimen was keyed out under the microscope. It is likely to be the first record of Neocoenorrhinus pauxillus in Nottinghamshire, although there is an unconfirmed historical record on the Invertebrate Site Register, from Barrow Hills in 1903. Many thanks to Tim Sexton, for kindly allowing the use of his photograph below.
