Melecta albifrons (Forster, 1771)
A distinctive and relatively easy to identify dark species, made easy by the white patches on the abdomen. We have only found Melecta albifrons on one previous occasion (at Lound Wood near Eakring) but it does occur in gardens, though is generally quite uncommon. This Bee is found in areas where its two host species (Anthophora) occur.
