Margarinotus purpurascens (Herbst, 1792)
Margarinotus purpurascens is just one of numerous similar Histeridae, which are very difficult species to identify. They are typically found under or in carrion, rotting vegetation or dung etc. There is one historical Sherwood Forest record, but this one was found during an invertebrate survey of farmland in Worcestershire in July 2013.
