Magdalis armigera (Geoffroy in Fourcroy, 1785)
A small weevil which is usually found on Elm (Ulmus sp). In Nottinghamshire, it has been recorded on a number of occasions across the county, although there seems to be a concentration of records along a narrow band running from Nottingham, north-eastwards. Predominantly a weevil of the southern-half of the UK, and best looked for along hedgerows, where Elm continues to grow. Lower photograph kindly provided by Nick and Samantha Brownley.
