Hypera meles (Fabricius, 1792)
One of several similarly marked/coloured Hypera Weevils, this Hypera meles was recorded from an area containing much Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) at Attenborough NR by reserve manager Tim Sexton in June 2016. There seem to be very few modern records, with the only other record we are aware of coming from Dukes Wood near Eakring in 1999. Our thanks go to Tim Sexton, for kindly supplying us with these photographs.
