Hygrotus inaequalis (Fabricius, 1777)
Despite being a difficult group to identify, it is still surprising that Water Beetles have been totally overlooked throughout all recording at Sherwood Forest NNR. Consequently, all species such as this very small Hygrotus inaequalis, seem to be new to the NNR. This one was netted from the pool at Budby South Forest in early September 2009. Length 3mm.
