Hydroporus pubescens (Gyllenhal, 1808)
Despite being a difficult group to identify, it is still surprising that Water Beetles have been almost totally overlooked in the Sherwood Forest area, apart from a series of records by R. Merritt a few years ago. Several of these were found in a small pool at Clipstone Old Quarter in early September 2009, but most small water bodies seem to hold this beetle.
