Hydroporus planus (Fabricius, 1781)
Many Water Beetles are virtually impossible to identify from photographs and being one of numerous similar Hydroporus sp, this Hydroporus planus was netted from an old cattle trough at Nettleworth Manor in early May 2013 and its identitiy confirmed later. Common across most of the UK. Length around 3.5mm.
