Spider Weevil Exomias araneiformis (Schrank, 1781)
Something of an uncommon species in Nottinghamshire and indeed, especially so compared to the very similar Exomias pellucidus. There are just a handful of sites from where Exomias araneiformis has been confirmed from, but it is probably more widespread than it appears to be. The examples in the photographs, were found in a leaf litter sample from Portland Park, Kirkby-in-Ashfield in March 2026, by Nick and Samantha Brownley.
