Curculio betulae (Stephens, 1831)
A rare weevil in Notts and from the information we have at hand, this may well be the first record since Carr's book in 1916. Curculio betulae is a fairly small secies, predominantly found on Birch, but we found several of these on Alders at Warsop Main Pit Top in July 2009. If this beetle can turn up on a former pit top, then it should be more widespread in the county, than is currently thought.
