Cryptophagus distinguendus (Sturm, 1845)
This is another very small Cryptophagid which turned up in a leaf litter sample, taken from around the base of the Centre Tree at Clipstone Old Quarter in April 2020. Identifying most Cryptophagidae accurately is impossible from photographs, so a specimen is always required. There are very few recent Nottinghamshire records, with this one being just the second from the Sherwood Forest NNR.
