This is a ground-dwelling bug with a generally south-easterly
distribution in the UK, with a concentration of records from the Thames
Estuary area. Once extremely scarce nationally, it has started to be
found more widely and appears to be moving north. This is also indicated
by the fact that Nottinghamshire has two recent records of
Bathysolen nubilus, where it has been recorded from the grounds of
the former Radcliffe-on-Soar power station, situated in the far
south-west of Nottinghamshire in July 2024
(Dutton, A.) and from the former Calverton Colliery in February
2026 (Brownley, N. and Brownley, S.).
Thanks to Nick and Samantha Brownley, for providing me with the specimen
below for illustrating the species here. |
