Colymbetes fuscus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Despite being a difficult group to identify, it is still surprising that Water Beetles have been largely overlooked throughout all recording at Sherwood Forest NNR, apart from the recording efforts of Bob Merritt. Bob's recording also means that we have an excellent knowledge of the Nottinghamshire range of  Colymbetes fuscus. This is a large species with a length of around 19mm.
