Chrysogaster solstitialis (Fallén, 1817)
This dark-winged and quite distinctive Hoverfly is generally found in damp areas and seems quite uncommon over much of Nottinghamshire, but is to be found regularly on Umbellifers in woodland around the Mansfield/Sherwood Forest area. The lower two photographs of Chrysogaster solstitialis recorded at Dyscarr Wood in May 2014, were kindly sent to us by Pauline Bradford.
