Ceratapion gibbirostre (Gyllenhal, 1813)
A small Weevil which is usually found on Thistles (Cirsium spp) Ceratapion gibbirostre is probably quite widespread and found throughout much of Nottinghamshire, especially as its foodplant is so common, yet there are few records available to us. There are other similar species which make correct identification to species level more difficult, but good quality photographs such as these, supplied to us by Tim Sexton from Attenborough NR in 2016 certainly help.
