Sigara dorsalis (Leach, 1817)
Presumed to be a common Water Boatman over most of Nottinghamshire, often recorded from within reed beds around the edges of lakes and ponds and is also regularly recorded at MV light. This is certainly a species recorded regularly by Bob Merritt during the late 1990's and early 2000's. Bob's recording of aquatic hemiptera in Nottinghamshire, was largely confined to sites west of the Trent Valley, but Sigara dorsalis should be expected in many ponds and ditches elsewhere in he county.
