Saldula orthochila (Fieber, 1859)
Shore Bugs represent a difficult group of similar looking small bugs. All are found near water, but Saldula orthochila is the only species which prefers drier habitats, including wasteground, heathland and other predominantly dry sites. The only previous Nottinghamshire records we can currently trace, are from the Sherwood Forest area (which apart from the nymph in the lower two photographs from 2009) date back to the early 1900's. The adult is shown in the top four photographs.
