| A decent sized Rove Beetle, the one photographed measuring 11mm in length. There are over 1000 species of Staphylinidae in the UK, most are scavengers and can be found in a variety of sites. They generally inhabit leaf litter and and other decaying matter and are good fliers. This Othius subuliformis was found under a discarded piece of wood at Sherwood Forest CP in February 2010. There are relatively few Sherwood records. | ||
