Orchestes alni (Linnaeus, 1758)
A small Weevil with the ability to jump well when needed. Despite the name Orchestes alni is actually found on Elm, the larvae producing a blotch mine as it mines the leaves. It appears to have declined in Nottinghamshire and the only records are all historical and from the south of the county. To date (2016) there have been no recent records despite it being looked for. Orchestes alni is probably best located by beating foliage during the Summer months.
