Machimus atricapillus (Fallén, 1814)
A common robberfly, this Machimus atricapillus was found at Warsop Main Pit Top in July 2012. Normally hard to approach, let alone photograph, this male was extremely confiding. Robberflies are predatory on many other species of flies and other insects.
