Lucilia sericata (Meigen, 1826)
One of numerous species of so called 'Greenbottles' which are difficult to tell apart without a specimen. Identification to species' level, cannot really be done without the aid of a microscope and scalpel. but good quality photographs can sometimes help to a degree. Lucilia sericata is more widespread in Nottinghamshire than our distribution map would suggest, being most commonly found in agricultural areas, but will also occur in gardens.
