Anthomyia procellaris (Rondani, 1866)
One of a number of very similarly marked flies, Anthomyia procellaris is a difficult species to identify correctly, but can be done from good photographs taken from a range of differing angles. However, A. pluvialis is extremely similar and likely to be encountered in Nottinghamshire, so check carefully. Common at most well vegetated sites around the county and certainly much under-recorded.
