| A common mining bee, Andrena bicolor is just one of many similar looking bees which live solitarily. They nest in the ground, usually where the soil is quite soft. A small nest containing a few cells are constructed, which the female fills with pollen. A single egg is laid in each cell and the larvae feed on the pollen. Adults emerge in Spring the following year. The pictures show the female on the left, with the smaller male on the right. | ||
