Scotina gracilipes (Blackwall, 1859)
This is a rare, but very attractive spider in Nottinghamshire, with the few county records there are, coming only from heathland areas of Clumber Park. Scotina gracilipes is a spider very much of the ground layer, usually found at the base of Heather. In terms of actual county records, just one of the Clumber records (from August 1996) is reasonably well documented, although the NBN Atlas lists no observer with the record. There is another record from 1990, which gives the typically vague grid reference of just four digits (SK7000), with no recorder or determiner and lists the record as 'plausible'. The one illustrated below, was found at Clumber Park in October 2025, at the base of some heather.
