Micrommata virescens (Clerck, 1757)
A distinctive large, green spider. Although currently only known in Nottinghamshire through accidental import via plant transportation to a garden centre, there is no reason why Micrommata virescens should not occur in the county naturally. It is mainly a southern UK species, but there are odd records as far north as Yorkshire. The spider illustrated here, was photographed by Robert Brown, who found the spider while unloading plants arriving at his garden centre in Upper Broughton.
