Grey House Spider Badumna longinqua (L. Koch, 1867)
This is a non-native spider of Australian origin, but which has been accidentally imported to a number of countries worldwide, including several countries in South America, South Africa, Japan, the USA and Europe (Germany). Other UK records are hard to track down, but the one illustrated here was one of three specimens found on shrubs at a garden centre near Southwell in early October 2021, but it has since been recorded at two more Nottinghamshire garden centres.

Badumna longinqua
builds a loose and rather untidy cribellate web at the top of small shrubs in it's country of origin, and this was exactly the case for this record, with the webs being found on Magnolias for sale in a cool greenhouse, but webs at one garden centre were built on the supports and frames of a cool greenhouse.
