Wasp Spider Argiope bruennichi (Scopoli, 1772)
A species with an interesting history in Nottinghamshire, as for many years, this stunning spider was only on the Nottinghamshire list after being imported accidentally to garden centres at Upper Broughton in 2006 and again in 2015 (per Brown, R.), and Oxton in 2018 (Heeney, W.).  Males were seen at Upper Broughton in 2015 and 2016 and breeding was showed to be successful (per Brown, R.) and we found two females on large potted Phormiums standing in a poly tunnel, when we visited in September 2016.

But in late July 2024, Argiope bruennichi was discovered in the south lawns area of Clumber Park (Maka, A.) from a small area of grassy heathland containing some Juncus, and a second Clumber record quickly followed a few weeks later in August (Brownley, N. and Brownley, S.). It seems very likely that this spider will also be at other Nottinghamshire sites (including others within Clumber Park) and attempts will be made over the coming years to find further sites.
