Araneus sturmi (Hahn, 1831)
An uncommon spider of deciduous woodland, but usually found on evergreen shrubs such as Yew (Taxus baccata) and others. In Nottinghamshire, it has a distribution covering much of the Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park areas and records away from there are unusual. The female is shown, found at Clipstone Old Quarter in May 2019, which is our only encounter with Araneus sturmi to date.
