The 2-spot Ladybird
produces aberrant or variant examples less frequently
than the 10-spot Ladybird. But however, as with the
10-spot Ladybird, some variants can be difficult to
identify as being either species. Two of the variants
illustrated here, were found under loose bark with large
accumulations of over-wintering 2-spot Ladybirds at Hare
Hill Wood near Kersall on February 3rd 2007. Out of a
total of 147 that were found - just three adults showed
any variation from the normal form. |
