Voria ruralis (Fallén, 1810)
Voria ruralis is a dark grey Tachinid fly and a larval parasite of several species of Plusiinae moths including Silver Y (Autographa gamma) and Spectacle (Abrostola tripartita). It has a patchy, but widespread distribution covering most the the southern counties of the UK and in Nottinghamshire was fairly well recorded historically, although there seem to be few recent records. The fly shown lower right was recorded and photographed at Dyscarr Wood, by Pauline Bradford in September 2015.
