Volucella inanis
Another large and spectacular species of Hoverfly. It is described as being local, and although there have been recent reports of V. inanis from several new counties (including Nottinghamshire) since the late 1990's, it appears to have declined in some areas. We have four records of this Hoverfly, all of which have come in late July and August.
