Tetanocera ferruginea (Fallén, 1820
A Sciomyzid which favours wetland sites and which is probably more widespread in Nottinghamshire, than the number of records we have would suggest. There are of course, a number of very similar species, so (as with most Diptera) correct identification is not easy. The one illustrated, was found resting on Phragmites Reeds growing in a wet ditch at Ollerton Pit Woods in August 2020.
