Duckweed Weevil Tanysphyrus lemnae (Paykull, 1792)
This is a very small Weevil measuring just over 2mm in length, usually found near still water where Duckweed grows on the surface. Interestingly though, theone illustrated, was found by sieving through moss in woodland, around half a mile from the nearest pond. Certainly under-recorded in Nottinghamshire, with thinly scattered records in the western-half of the county.
