Sphaerophoria scripta (Linnaeus, 1758)
Another common UK hoverfly is Sphaerophoria scripta. Male (upper two photographs) and female differ in size. It is a quite strikingly different species, when compared to many others and was first noted in the Eakring area during the Summer of 2005.
