Ropalodontus perforatus (Gyllenhal, 1813)
This tiny beetle was found on Hoof Fungus (Fomes fomentarius) in Clumber Park on April 4th 2026, with a follow-up record coming very quickly that same month and from the same area by the same recorders. Found by Nick and Samantha Brownley, Ciidae aren't always the easiest species to identify and attempts are ongoing to have the original identification, based on microscopic examination of the beetle's external features confirmed, as the only record from England apparently dates to the 1800's and there seem to be no modern (published) records on the NBN Atlas, potentially making this a very important record nationally and locally. There are currently, only accepted records from central and northern Scotland (NBN Atlas).
