Rivellia syngenesiae (Fabricius, 1781)
An uncommon fly of well-vegetated, marshy sites, Rivellia syngenesiae is easily mistaken for some species of Picture-winged Flies (Tephritidae) or Herina frondescentiae (Ulidiidae). During an invertebrate survey of a small area of Newstead Abbey in 2013, we found several examples, but all proved difficult to photograph well. The only other Nottinghamshire record we can find via the NBN Gateway, dates from 1925 just north of Newark.
