Pissodes castaneus (De Geer, 1775)
Generally commonest across the southern-half of the UK with very few records north of a a line drawn across from The Humber and the Mersey. This is another weevil which is dependant on a range of Pines as host trees, but despite Nottinghamshire having large areas of commercial Pine forestry, there are only a handful of county records.

The specimen photographed below, was beaten from Pines at Clumber Park in April 2024 by Nick and Samantha Brownley. Clumber is one of just three Nottinghamshire sites where Pissodes castaneus has been recorded from in recent years, the others including Budby South Forest and Sherwood Forest CP (both Dutton, A.).
