Piesma maculatum (Laporte, 1832)
Very similar in appearance to some Lacebugs (Tingidae) Piesma maculatum is one of just two species of Beetbug (Piesmatidae) found in the UK and is the most widespread of the two species. The very small adults range from just 2mm-3mm in length and can be found on Atriplex. Piesma maculatum has a rather patchy distribution across southern parts of the UK and there are few (if any) Nottinghamshire records. The ones in the accompanying photographs, were found on Atriplex growing along a field edge at Clipstone Old Quarter in August 2016.
