Palloptera umbellatarum (Fabricius, 1775)
Probably a fairly widespread species in Nottinghamshire, as there are a number of scattered records of Palloptera umbellatarum listed on the NBN Gateway, but which are not shown in the distribution map below. It has certainly been recorded from the Sherwood Forest area, when it turned up during Andy Godfrey's Diptera surveys on behalf of Natural England in 2010 and we recorded it ourselves for the first time, on the wall of the new Craft Centre at Edwinstowe in October 2016.
