This is a rare beetle in Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands are
in general, according to the NBN Atlas. For many years, Odeles
marginata was known as Elodes marginata, but it has
undergone a name change in recent years. Scirtidae (the family
Odeles marginata belongs to) are typically found on vegetation
in wetland sites, such as around ponds and along streams and ditches
etc, with the one photographed being found along a small stream running
through at Kirton Wood in early May 2025
(Brownley, N. and Brownley, S.). The county's only other record,
seems to be one from Bevercotes Park Plantation in 2001
(Merritt, B.). |
