Nomada ruficornis (Linnaeus, 1758)
A common Nomada, at least certainly in those parts of Nottinghamshire where the recording of bees and wasps has been more frequent over the years. Even so, it is surprising that there seems to be no records from the Sherwood Forest NNR, despite Nomada ruficornis's host species Andrena haemorrhoa being commonly found there.

Like all Nomada bees, identification to species from photographs alone is not an easy task. Nottinghamshire records have come largely from the Clumber Park area and lower parts of the Trent Valley. The one photographed here, was one of a number found at Burntstump CP, north of Nottingham.
