Neomyia viridescens (Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830)
Doubtless a severely under-recorded species in Nottinghamshire, not helped by the fact that Neomyia viridescens is extremely similar to Neomyia cornicina. Then, to make identification even more difficult, both Neomyias (Muscidae) are visually very similar to the well known Lucilia 'Greenbottles' (Calliphoridae) despite them belonging to a different families. Neomyia viridescens frequently visits flowers and is less inclined to occur in urban gardens.
