Neomyia cornicina (Fabricius, 1781)
Another much under-recorded species in Nottinghamshire, not helped by the fact that Neomyia cornicina is similar to Neomyia viridescens. To make matters worse, both Neomyias (Muscidae) are visually very similar to the well known Lucilia 'Greenbottles' (Calliphoridae) despite them belonging to a different families. Neomyia cornicina frequently visits flowers and we found large numbers of them on Creeping Thistle at Stoke Bardolph in mid-July 2017.
