Micropeza corrigiolata (Linnaeus, 1767)
This seems to be an uncommon species in Nottinghamshire, although the recording and knowledge of much of our Dipterous fauna, still leaves much to be desired. Often referred to as Stilt-legged Flies, Micropeza corrigiolata is one of two species of Micropeza in the UK. They tend to prefer well vegetated sites, where they can be found on foliage. We are indebted to Darren Matthews for kindly allowing us to use his photograph below, which was taken at Colwick Racecourse in early July 2018.
