With so little recording devoted to Nottinghamshire's hymenopterous
fauna, it is often very difficult to accurately determine the status of
most bees and wasps in the county. There are often few records for VC56
on websites such as the NBN Atlas and iRECORD, so the occurrence of this
Melitta leporina in a Bestwood garden may well be a county
first. Found and photographed by Sandra Parkin in June 2023, this record
is just one of many hymenoptera records now reaching the aforementioned
websites and is testament to Sandra's patient recording work of this
neglected invertebrate order. |
