Melanostoma scalare (Fabricius, 1794)
Another species which appears to be common in the Eakring area and probably is throughout much of Nottinghamshire. M.scalare is quite a small and easily missed hoverfly, commonly found at flowers. This one was photographed at the former Market Warsop sand quarry in April 2014.
