Macronychia polyodon (Meigen, 1824)
Macronychia polyodon is rare in Nottinghamshire with just a single known record, when the one below was found and photographed at Netherfield Lagoons by Peter Smith in July 2021. Flies of the Genus Macronychia, belong to the Sarcophagidae Family and are reasonably distinctive to separate to Genus level by the dark trianglular patterning on the abdominal tergites. Grateful thanks go to Peter, for allowing the use of his photographs to illustrate this species.
